Jorrit Zwijnenburg is the Head of Sectoral and National Accounts in the OECD’s National Accounts Division, responsible for a wide variety of macroeconomic datasets providing insights into aspects of country’s economies. In his role, he assists countries in further improving their results, explains results to users, and contributes to further developing guidance as included in the System of National Accounts, the international framework underlying the statistics. In this capacity, he has been doing research in areas such as non-bank financial intermediation, pensions, crypto assets, intellectual property products, and the digital economy. Furthermore, he has a leading role in developing proposals to better describe aspects of well-being and sustainability in macroeconomic statistics.
He is an active member of related international fora, such as the UNECE led Group of Experts in National Accounts, the IMF Government Finance Statistics Advisory Committee, and the Eurostat National Accounts Working Group. Furthermore, he is a Council Member of the International Association for Research in Income and Wealth. He currently also chairs the OECD Expert Group on Disparities in National Accounts, developing guidance to compile household distributional results in line with national accounts totals, and leads related work in the new G20 Data Gaps Initiative. He also co-chaired the OECD-Eurostat Task Force on Land on other non-financial assets and led the drafting of the report on measuring Intellectual Property Products.
